Library ConnectED

The Pueblo City-County Library District (PCCLD), Pueblo City Schools District 60 (D60), and Pueblo County School District 70 (D70) are working together in collaboration as part of the White House’s national initiative called The Library ConnectED Challenge. Pueblo is one of more than thirty major cities and counties taking the challenge, which includes a commitment to support student learning through programming that develops their language, reading, and critical thinking; provide digital resources, such as eBooks and online collections of traditional media; and provide broadband connectivity and wireless access within library facilities. The goal is to improve student access to the learning resources and books of America’s libraries. This initiative includes the support of the White House, the Institute of Museum and Library Services, the American Library Association, and the Urban Libraries Council.
To fulfill this partnership, PCCLD is providing every D60 and D70 student with a public library account using each student’s school identification numbers instead of separate library cards.

With their Library ConnectED account, students can:

  • Access library research databases.
  • Borrow e-materials such as downloadable books, audiobooks, music and videos
  • Borrow up to 5 each: Books, Books on CD, Playaways, Playaway Book Packs, Magazines (except current issues), puppets; for 21 days
  • Borrow 1 each: DVD, CD, Video Game, Playaway View, Playaway Launchpad; for 7 days.

There are no overdue fines for ConnectED accounts, but users are responsible for fees on lost or damaged books.

To access online information and checkout materials, the student must know their Student ID and birthdate:
Library Account: D60+ student ID (example: D60123456) OR D70+student ID (example: D7012345) OR PSAS+student ID (example: PSAS1234567)
PIN: mmddyyyy (example: 02142010)

Right now, the ConnectED Program is limited to D60 and D70; we offer library visits to other schools to provide a library card drive and information about other library services.

Other ways PCCLD supports students and educators
PCCLD provides a variety of other services that can support student success throughout the year.

Organizational Library Cards
An Organization card is issued to an institution, company, center, establishment or association that is either profit or non-profit, and has more than 5 employees, members, partners, or associates. Possible eligible institutions include public schools, daycare centers, nursing homes, hospitals, etc. The Organization must be a legal entity within the boundaries of Pueblo City-County Library District (PCCLD). Local clubs or social groups are not eligible for this card. Organization cards expire after one year, and upon expiration an updated application must be submitted. See any library staff member for an application.

Hours and Locations
PCCLD operates several locations throughout the county with convenient hours in order to visit to obtain materials or access resources that will help in homework help and project preparation. The Rawlings Library is open on Sundays from 1-5 pm.

School Visits and Field Trips
When the library comes to your school – it’s a lot of fun! We can visit your school to provide customized learning experiences. You can also take a field trip to tour the library and see museum exhibits and the Idea Factory. Storytimes and activities can be arranged as well. The choices are endless and teachers can make these arrangements through Book a Library Visit.

Annual Programs and Contests
PCCLD hosts many exciting programs and conducts awesome contests every year. During Spring a special author will visit the library for Read Out Loud, Summer is time for Summer Reading Programs, and in the Fall we have activities surrounding All Pueblo Reads. Our contests and awards celebrate reading, writing, and artistic endeavors of area students. The best way to know what is coming up is to check out our News and Events.

Teachers, when you have an upcoming assignment and need a hand gathering lesson information, let us help! In addition to physical material, let us know if you would like help finding digital material to support this assignment as well. Fill out this Assignment Alert and we will have material ready for you by assignment time.
