Fairmount Park on Wednesday and Thursday 9 a.m. -1 p.m., June and July. Storytime at 10 a.m.
Books in the Park began in 2004 as a pilot project at the suggestion of Councilman Ray Aguilera who wanted to bring library services to children who might not otherwise have the opportunity to visit the library.
This innovative program using withdrawn and donated books allows any child to complete the Summer Reading Club gameboards even if they don't have a library card. The steady growth of attendance and participation demonstrates the community's overwhelming acceptance of Books in the Park as a summertime favorite.
Weekly story times (presented by community volunteers); crafts (provided by Pueblo Parks & Recreation staff); and free lunches for children (provided by District 60 School Lunch Program) round out the Books in the Park experience.
Community groups unable to attend the scheduled story times are welcome to call (at least one week in advance)
Youth Services Manager Maria Kramer at (719) 562-5618 and arrange for a custom story time.
