Assist staff with special projects, retrieval of information for document requests and improve access to genealogy and western research materials by indexing and organizing archival material.
Length of Commitment:
3 months minimum
3-4 hours per week
Knowledgeable of genealogy and/or local history
Ability to work independently
Detail-oriented and able to follow directions accurately
Computer skills helpful
Locate articles relevant to projects on microfilm and copy
Locate and extract information from reference books
Prepare card or computerized index
Enter data into computer
Organize notebooks or archival boxes
Labeling and filing
Orientation to the library including all applicable policies and procedures.
Individual training with Special Collections staff.
Instruction on use of microfilm machines, online genealogy databases and library catalog.
