Position Description:
Assist circulation staff with reparation of damaged books and audiovisual materials.

Length of Commitment:
3 months minimum
Time Involvement:
4-8 hours per week
Qualifications:
Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age
Ability to follow instructions
Good manual dexterity
Detail-oriented and able to perform tasks accurately
Ability to work independently
Responsibilities:
Evaluate condition of materials selected for repair and determine what mending techniques to use and/or return for discard if unable to mend
Repair book bindings and/or loose pages
Make new covers for books, videos, CD’s and DVD’s
Replace cases for audio materials, barcodes and/or call numbers for library materials, as necessary
Log the number of items processed during each shift
Training:
Orientation to the library including all applicable policies and procedures.
Individual training with Circulation Staff or fellow volunteer on mending techniques.
