InfoZone News Museum Volunteer

Position Description: 

Provide a welcoming environment for InfoZone visitors by addressing questions regarding InfoZone materials and equipment, assisting with gift shop transactions and helping with InfoZone programs and tours.

Length of Commitment: 
3 months minimum
Time Involvement: 
Variable; minimum of one 4-hour shift per week; Shifts available: 9am-1pm, 1pm-5pm, 5pm-9pm
Qualifications: 
Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age
Reliable and responsible
Ability to communicate clearly, effectively and comfortably with staff, volunteers & visitors of all ages
Strong customer service skills, cash-handling experience helpful
Ability to work independently
Responsibilities: 
Staff the InfoZone desk
Greet and welcome museum visitors
Answer general questions about InfoZone News Museum exhibits and programs
Engage individual visitors and families in impromptu tours, conversations or interactive exhibits
Assist library staff with school group tours of the InfoZone News Museum
Track gate count and monitor behavior of museum visitors
On occasion, assist with special events or evening programs
Assist with word processing, mailing or other administrative functions as needed
Cash register and gift shop transactions.
Training: 
Orientation to the library including all applicable policies and procedures.
Attend an individual or small group InfoZone orientation to learn opening and closing duties, as well as daily operating procedures of the museum.
Web-based training tutorials on an individual basis.
