AIDS quilt exhibit
Dec. 1-Jan. 2
InfoZone - 4th floor
The Rawlings Library will host a display of AIDS quilts in recognition of World Aids Day. Supported by a number of local agencies, this project honors those who have lost the battle with HIV/AIDS. Sixteen years ago, Lou Mercer, a volunteer with the Southern Colorado AIDS Project, attended a class on how to make panels for the National AIDS Quilt Campaign. From that class, Lou launched a project to honor local people by making smaller versions of the panels.
A total of 38 memorial panels currently exist, and at this year’s World AIDS Day Celebration and Candlelight Vigil, the Southern Colorado AIDS Project will present four more panels to be added for those individuals that have passed in the last year. The vigil and ceremony will be hee open from Dec. 1-Jan. 2
Rawlings Libraryld on December 1st from 4-6 p.m. on the 4th floor of the Rawlings Library.
