The Friends of the Library, a voluntary membership organization, recognizes that excellence in library services enhances the quality of life in our community.

The Friends began in 1960 and continues to support the growth of the library and its programs. The Friends operate a used book store "Books Again" to fund special programs such as author visits and the summer reading program as well as many other special library projects. The Friends also support reading and writing programs sponsored by the library.

The Friends of the Library annual meeting is held each April to elect board members for the coming year, to present the projected annual budget, and to give an annual report of services and activities.

To join the Friends, mail your membership check with your current address to the Friends of the Library, 622 S Union Ave., Pueblo, Colorado 81004 or ask for a membership form at any library location. For additional information, please call 543-4688.

"Books Again" The Friends of the Library used bookstore is located at 622 S. Union Ave.  It is right behind, or east of, the Rawlings Library and can be reached from Church Street.  Store hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Saturday, phone number 543-4688.  Over 10,000 slightly used books are available for your selection.  All types of books: hard-back, paper-back, fiction, non-fiction, biographies, cookbooks, children's books, craft & art books, southwestern, rare and autographed books, as well as audio and video tapes are all displayed in a friendly and warm environment.

Most of the books sell for 25% of the original price cover (a $20 book sells for $5).  A few books are specially priced based on the Internet selling price because they are rare, autographed, or collectable.  All profits generated by "Books Again" are used to support Pueblo City-County Library District projects, through the "Friends of the Library".  Book donations may be made during the store hours listed above.

Membership income makes the library even better.   Auxiliary membership, $10; Individual, $15; Family, $20; Business, $30; Gold Card, $30; Benefactor, $100; and Patron Member, $500.

Donating Material to the Library

Used books, videos, tapes, CDs, and cassettes may be donated for the annual book sale. It is helpful if items are boxed. Unfortunately, textbooks, old encyclopedias, and magazines are not saleable. (Please do not include these in your donations.) Gifts are tax deductible. If you have any questions about the usefulness of your gift, call 543-4688.
